Jim Richards
Jim Richards will demonstrate a few of his techniques for starting an oil painting. He normally uses oil paints more in the tradition of the old masters, painting in multiple layers and with glazes for his figurative realism paintings. He will show a little of drawing transfer/ghosting technique as well as direct painting and ala prima describing the differences, advantages and processes employed. He will use a combination of slide show as well as hands on demonstration to illustrate his techniques.
He will also have a few pieces of his art as examples of the end product of the painting process as well as pieces in progress to illustrate interim states of the process.
