Annual Fall Call to Artists, Exhibition & Fashion Show

Artists in Action’s Fiber Arts Show will showcase a wide range of artistic creations using textile materials and techniques: knitting, weaving, quilting, embroidery, macrame, felting, rug hooking, lace making, basketry, sewing, papermaking, to name a few. Fiber arts is a creative field where artists use natural or synthetic fibers and textiles to create works of art   Fiber art emphasizes the artistic process and the unique qualities of the materials. It can involve intricate patterns, textures, and color combinations.

Fiber art is a dynamic and evolving field where artists use textiles to explore cultural, social, and personal themes. It allows for storytelling and personal expression through the use of colors, patterns, and symbols. Fiber art has a rich history rooted in ancient cultures, where it served both practical and ceremonial purposes. In recent decades, there has been a growing recognition of fiber art as a legitimate and important form of contemporary art, with artists pushing the boundaries of traditional techniques and materials.

This exciting and diverse show will be judged for awards by Linda Jacobson. You can learn more about Linda and see some of her art her: https://artistsinaction.org/events2/fiber-arts-exhibition/fiber-arts-judge-linda-jacobson/
The ribbon and monetary awards include these categories: Best of Show, Best Original Design, Best Wearable, Best Use of Unconventional Material, Best Use of Color, Most Functional Non-wearable, and Honorable Mention. Additionally, the People’s Choice Award will be determined by the count of ballots that are available in the gallery throughout the show.

Included, and optional, is a Fashion Show in which artists will be able to model wearable art of all kinds. This includes clothing, hats, jewelry, shoes, anything constructed of fiber that is worn on the body. Yes, it can be fun and silly. There will be four prizes valued at $500.

The “Upcycled Creations” fashion show is an integral part of the Fiber Arts Show.
