AiA Collaboration with Ankeny Hill Nature Center: Artist Opportunity for Educational Art Activities

Special Thanks to Arwen Edsall for helping get this organized and creating this report.

Subject: Join the Ankeny Hill Nature Center Working Group

Artists in Action is exploring a potential educational collaboration with Ankeny Hill Nature Center.

This is an opportunity for AiA artists to share their artistic talents with the public while supporting Ankeny Hill Nature Center’s mission of connecting people with nature and fostering environmental stewardship through education. Artist-led activities would engage families through hands-on creative experiences inspired by native plants, wildlife, habitats, and ecological processes. Artists would ideally teach their activities when available while also developing simple facilitator guides so trained Nature Center volunteers can continue offering the activities when artists are unavailable.

We are looking for a small working group to:

  • Brainstorm ideas to explore opportunities for one or two pilot activities.
  • Develop those ideas into proposals to present to Ankeny Hill Nature Center.
  • Explore how a long-term partnership between Artists in Action and the Nature Center could grow.

If there is interest, we can also arrange a tour of the Nature Center to better understand the space, available resources, and existing educational programming.

For additional background information, please see the opportunity report by clicking here.

Please fill out the form below to let us know that you are interested in being a part of this exploratory program!
