Arwen Edsall is a contemporary artist and surface pattern designer based in Keizer, Oregon. Influenced by her background in environmental studies and ocean conservation, her work explores the visual structures of living systems through abstraction, repetition, and layered mark-making. Her paintings investigate themes of emergence, succession, interconnection, and ecological transformation, drawing inspiration from marine environments, cellular structures, and biological growth patterns. Working primarily in mixed media, she creates immersive abstract compositions that explore the movement and complexity of natural systems. Alongside her fine art practice, she develops surface pattern collections focused on texture, rhythm, and playful visual language. Her work has been exhibited in juried, community, and international exhibitions and is included in private collections.
