About the Board

Artist in Action’s Board of Directors manages the affairs, direction and progression of the organization. Beginning with 2021 term, the Board officers will consist of a President and a Finance Director who will fulfill the State of Oregon requirements as it pertains to organizational oversight and fiduciary reporting. The board will also include a number of Directors who have oversight of specific areas of focus. The Board of Directors are elected by the AiA members annually as well as appointed by the Board itself to fill vacancies. An individual may occupy more than one Director position (if necessary).

Each Director’s title defines an area of focus that is critical to functional success of the organization, and each title corresponds to a comprehensive set of responsibilities. This structure promotes:

  • Accountability – It provides existing and incoming board members with clear expectations.
  • Identification – It allows members and the public to easily identify who can address their matter.

AiA Members who want to participate in the success of the organization, but not at the director level of involvement, may act as Agents.

About Agents

Agents are volunteers who help carry out specific functions and tasks as needed. They do not attend board meetings nor are they involved in organizational decisions. Agents are required only to attend and participate in task force and committee meetings that apply to their level of involvement and fulfill the responsibilities as assigned. Agents are provided with direction and oversight by a Director and may be asked to provide progress reports, updates and feedback.

Agent roles are flexible and may be added, updated or removed as-needed. Current examples include: Membership Agent, Social Media Agent, Finance Agent, Site Agent, Event Agents and Exhibition Agents. Directors may also act as Agents.

If you are interested in participating as an Agent, please sign up via the link below. Doing this doesn’t lock you into anything. If we need help with something specific we’ll send an email message out to those on our volunteer roster to see if anyone can assist.
