Call to Artists: Salem Reads. One Book, One Community 2021

Salem Reads 2021

Contributed by Diane Trevett

On behalf of the Salem Public Library Foundation, and as the art exhibit coordinator, I am announcing a Call to Artists for the 2021 Salem Reads, One Book, One Community. A complete CTA is forthcoming and will be posted on the AiA website under the Art Scene section.

Basically, we ask you to read the book and create a piece of art that reflects your interpretation!

The Salem Public Library Foundation created and funds Salem Reads which is in its fifth season. This year’s book is Walking with Peety by Eric O’Grey.

This show will be good exposure for you as an artist, with some pieces selling in past shows. The exhibit will be displayed at the Elsinore Framing and Fine Art Gallery February 3–26, 2021. Additionally, your work will be displayed on the Foundation website where you can also view past art by year.

Tuesday, October 6, 2020 is the Deadline for Commitment. If you’re interested in participating, it is very important that I hear from you by this deadline so that we have an initial idea of artist interest. There is room for 18 artists, one piece each. If needed, I will contact additional artists to round out the 18 available slots. Email me at SalemReadsDT@gmail.com if interested. I look forward to hearing from you!
